2021 – 2022 BMSB Seasonal Measures

The BMSB season is again almost upon us and whilst many of the measures from the 2020-2021 remain consistent with this season, some new measures have been added.

The most notable changes are as follows:

  • Poland has been added as a target risk country, meaning goods shipped from this country will be subject to the full range of measures.
  • Belarus, Malta, Sweden, UK and Chile have been added as emerging risk countries, meaning goods shipped from these countries may be subject to a random onshore inspection

As a refresh and to inform customers who might be new to shipping goods to Australia, BMSB seasonal measures will apply to targeted goods, manufactured, and shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (inclusive), and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.

Measures range from onshore inspection (emerging risk countries only) to offshore and onshore treatment of goods. Measures and treatments will vary dependent on the type of goods, country of origin and mode of transport (eg. FCL, FCX, LCL, break bulk etc.) and it is extremely important to consult with our team prior to arranging to ship any goods from overseas to Australia.

Note: The shipped on board date, as indicated on the Ocean Bill of Lading, is the date used to determine when goods are shipped.

DAWE continuously review measures throughout the season and may make necessary adjustments based on detections of BMSB and changes in the risk pathways.

Please be rest assured, that Keys Freight & Logistics will always seek to inform customers of any changes as we become aware.
