Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment announces new requirement for Fumigation Certificates

On 2 August 2021, the department implemented revised requirements under the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy, Version 4.0 (the policy).

Documentation issued for goods exported to Australia on or after this date must meet the revised policy requirements and essentially must include the following statement:

“The target of the fumigation conforms to the plastic wrapping, impervious surface, and timber thickness requirements at the time of fumigation.”

Whilst documents issued before this date may be exempt from this requirement, documents issued after this date must include this mandatory statement.

Please advise your suppliers of this change in requirement to avoid any delays when goods arrive into Australia.

As always, if you require any assistance, please contact our Customs team for expert advice.
